When I’m writing a book, I can’t help but have a theme tune/artist in my head. With ‘The Sisters’ Nina Simone, Rebecca Ferguson and John Newman were featuring a lot on my playlist. When I wrote the short story ‘Renata’, for the ‘No Way Home’ Anthology, Jimi Hendrix was on repeat. As I sat down yesterday to plan Book 2, David Bowie’s ‘Jump they say’ popped into my head. I love David Bowie. I blame my mum for my love for David Bowie. But he is simply the coolest singer ever and I’m about to press play on the 3 CD ‘The Very Best of Bowie’ compilation. So, if you find endless David Bowie references in Book 2, then you will know why.
