4. The Firm by John Grisham
I bought this book in October 1995 (I’ve scribbled my name and date on the first page). I can’t remember if this was the first Grisham that I bought, that honour may go to The Client. Anyway, I digress. The Firm does what it says on the tin. It’s a classic thriller. At times it may be slightly cliche but it’s unpretentious, fast paced fun. In a nutshell, Mitch is fresh out of a law school and joins Bendini, Lambert and Locke a small but well respected law firm. It’s not long after starting at the firm that Mitch is approached by an FBI agent who gives Mitch the wonderful news that no-one has ever left the firm alive and so a conspiracy unravels.
