My Top Ten…Day Nine

9. Moby Dick by Herman Melville

This book is hard work.  I remember when it appeared on my reading list back on uni and then I actually picked up a copy, my first thought was ‘you’re having a laugh’.  Really?  A man chasing a whale who took his leg. No thank you. This is going to be so dull.  I was so very wrong.  Very wrong indeed. I remember that it took me a while to get into but once I got past the first hump, I was hooked (*see what I did there). It’s a gripping story with intense, vivid pose. Everything is there, obsession, revenge, perfection, desire, equality, ownership, supremacy and more.  Moby Dick is one I recommend.
